New items are similar in many ways, but only at first glance. There are plenty of important differences inside! Simultaneously with the world announcement, in Russia they showed Xiaomi 11T based on MediaTek and its improved version Xiaomi 11T Pro with Qualcomm. New items can be attributed to affordable flagships. Despite the existing limitations, Xiaomi has found a way to show their new products live. I had enough time in a cozy room at the StandArt hotel.
The new products have a common design, which reads belonging to Xiaomi. There are three options in the color palette: gray, white and blue, I managed to get acquainted with the most interesting ones.
The gray smartphone looks austere, with a polished pattern hidden behind the gloss. But the material is easily soiled, collects prints and small dust particles.
White conquered me. It is not for nothing that it is called lunar – its snow-white cover slightly reflects and very beautifully scatters light without unnecessary overflows. The material is the exact opposite of gray, non-marking semi-matt plastic does not collect fingerprints and dust.
Due to the use of plastic for the back cover and bezels, the smartphones turned out to be lightweight for their diagonal. The younger one weighs 203 grams, and the older one – 204 grams. There are no problems with the grip, this is the merit of the successful rounding of the back cover.
The displays are also identical – 6.67-inch SuperAMOLED with 1000 nits peak brightness. Smoothness is guaranteed by an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, and responsiveness is guaranteed by a touch screen sampling rate of up to 480 Hz.
The new products have an identical optical system. The main camera with a resolution of 108 megapixels and an aperture of f / 1.75 takes 12 megapixels using Super Pixel technology. The 8MP f / 2.2 width captures more detail but lacks autofocus. The third 5-megapixel eyelet with f / 2.4 aperture and autofocus is announced as a tele-macro lens. But most likely the double zoom is the result of cropping the image from the main camera. The software supports all the available capabilities of AI-based computational photography.
The quality of the finished images may still differ, since Qualcomm and MediaTek have different post-processing. For example, the Xiaomi 11T Pro shoots video at 8K, while the 11T is content with 4K. It will be possible to assess the difference in different modes in the full review. Now I propose to evaluate several pictures on the Xiaomi 11T Pro in the difficult conditions of a hotel room.
Main difference is in hardware
The main difference is hidden inside. The younger smartphone is built on the basis of MediaTek Dimensity 1200-Ultra, and the advanced version uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. In both cases, the RAM is 8 GB, and the built-in 128 GB or 256 GB, but the 11T Pro will have a special version 12 + 256 GB. Both smartphones have stereo sound, but the older one has a Harman / Kardon setting. And also a heat pipe for cooling the chip and a more interesting vibration motor.
Batteries for 5000 mAh. However, here too, the elder stood out, having received a fast charge of 120 watts. This power allows you to count on a full replenishment of the battery in 17 minutes. The younger has a 67 W adapter, which is also a lot by the standards of modern smartphones.
Based on the results of the first acquaintance, I can say one thing – both smartphones are interesting for a more detailed study. However, now there is no exact information about the release dates and prices, we are waiting for further announcements of Xiaomi.
